Because of many applications in which neither heat exchangers with nonferrous metal additives nor screwed heat exchangers can be used, Alfa Laval developed the so-called fusion process. This process is used to connect stainless steel to stainless steel, resulting in a compact and efficient heat exchanger made of 100% stainless steel.

These heat exchangers are preferably used in the following ranges: Water systems with corrosive media, hygienic applications, high temperature applications (temperature resistance up to 550°C), ammonia cold-water chillers and many others.
